Outline

Plan2Place Consulting supported the development and planning scheme implementation of urban design guidelines for the City of Wodonga led by Peter Boyle Urban Design+Landscape Architecture with Design Urban. The guidelines were developed for the City of Wodonga to support the development of more robust housing in this regional city including the promotion of different types of dwellings, improved sustainability and quality, adaptability to respond to climate change and demographic requirements and responsiveness to sloping sites. The project also developed a suite of best practice design solutions to encourage owners, developers and builders to consider in housing developments on sloping land.

Residential areas identified as suitable for higher density residential development, focused within an 800 metre walkable distance of the Wodonga Central Business Area, including Strategic Development Sites and Strategic Infill Development Areas from the Wodonga Housing Strategy.

Plan2Place Consulting led the development of statutory planning options to assist in unlocking more diverse and affordable housing opportunities through the application of appropriate changes to the Wodonga Planning Scheme. These included local planning policies in the format of the Planning Policy Framework, Residential Growth and General Residential Zone Schedules and innovatively used local classes of VicSmart applications.
